On March 12, 2023, Andie MacDowell, then 64, was glowing as she appeared at the Oscar Awards where she brought one of her daughters, Rainey Qualley, then 33, as her date. The star and her oldest daughter looked stunning as they walked the red carpet together.

Besides Rainey, the actress was also a mother to a son, Justin Qualley, then 37, and another daughter, Margaret Qualley, 28. The “Maid” star shared all her three children with her ex-husband, Paul Qualley.

The celebrity made waves on social media for choosing to go with her gray hair all made up. Some people have tried to pressure the actress not to go natural with her looks, but she stuck to what worked for her.

MacDowell and Rainey were both dressed in black, with the actress appearing in a black gown with two different shoulder straps. Her daughter wore a strapless dress that featured crisscross detailing on the side.

At one point, the star and her daughter posed together on the red carpet, where they smiled while giving each other warm hugs. People shared a Facebook post with two images showing how well MacDowell had aged, but followers were quite critical.

Someone noted how “beautiful” the celebrity was, but felt “she needs better eyebrows.” Another person also praised the actress’s looks, but said they were surprised Rainey’s mother didn’t wear her hair down, adding:

“She looks matronly with it like that.”

A third fan also agreed that MacDowell had to “do something with her brows.” The star’s eyebrows weren’t the only thing that stood out about the actress, who proudly sported her gorgeous gray mane.

MacDowell once confessed that she stopped coloring her salt-and-pepper hair during the COVID-19 pandemic, and by 2023 she had fully embraced it. The star said she was really comfortable and something she’d wanted to do for a while.

Rainey’s mother shared how she was comfortable with where she currently was in life. MacDowell said she wanted to embrace being real and honest with those around her, but also herself, with her noting:

“People kept saying to me, ‘It’s not time,’ but I disagreed.”

The “Four Weddings and a Funeral” actress said she had been kowtowing to everyone’s beliefs, but now she wanted to look her age and be where she was. In 2021, MacDowell shared the story of how she realized she looked good natural.

The star said the first time she stopped coloring her hair she went to a grocery store. At the time there wasn’t any other place for her to go to and she thought she looked good, before seeing a man she described as a “silver fox.”

MacDowell explained that when she saw the man she put her shoulders back and noted that she was the same like him. The “Groundhog Day” star revealed that she and the man shot each other looks, and she asserted to herself:

“I’m a silver fox.”

While on stage with Hugh Grant at the Oscars, the actress was praised for her good looks. A short clip was of the interaction was shared on social media, leading one fan to note how Grant and MacDowell were two of their favorite actors from their favorite movie.

The follower asked how the actress’ skin managed to be that beautiful, and called her “absolutely stunning in her prime.” The social media user also noted how Grant was “still handsome and also witty.”

In January 2023, MacDowell had an appearance on “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” where she showed off her graying mane. Fan’s rushed to leave positive comments section of the YouTube clip of the interview, with one person sharing how “absolutely stunning” her hair was.

Someone else thought the star was “so beautiful,” and they were “loving” her curls and gray hair. Another thrilled fan said the mother of three looked “as beautiful as ever,” while a fourth fan revealed that they loved MacDowell’s energy.

A fan described the actress as a “class act and fun gal rolled up in a gorgeous, talented woman!” The follower felt the star knew how to age well, but before her 2023 appearance, MacDowell’s graying hair was in full view while she was on “The Drew Barrymore Show,” in February 2021.

In January 2023, MacDowell revealed on the “Today” show that she’d become a first-time grandmother! The actress revealed that she’d just spent time with her granddaughter over Christmas in 2022.

The star explained how she’d never had someone who looked “into” her and saw her soul. The celebrity smiled as she noted that they’d had a “soul-to-soul connection,” and that she hadn’t decided on her grandmother name because her granddaughter couldn’t speak yet.

However, she shared that she might settle for “grandma” or “nana,” but not “granny” – ultimately leaving the choice up to her grandchild. Speaking about dating, MacDowell said going on dates took energy and she was busy.

The actress said the most important part of her life at the moment was having meaningful and deep friendships, and her work. As she’s grown, she’s learned what really mattered, and it was the relationships that nurtured her.

However, she shared that she felt an “intense amount of love,” and other things had fallen away that didn’t matter as much. MacDowell noted how she had a bigger chance to have compassionate love, a larger heart, and empathy for different people, stating:

“So, it’s not like I’m searching for a relationship.”

The celebrity said she could have a great friendship with someone, and find fulfillment with the love and compassion they felt for that person or other people. The actress shared that it was a shift that came with age and it felt good!
