A man from Texas almost got many women’s heart rates up when he uploaded a social media message of him sharing everything he didn’t do to help his wife. However, the way he saved his post had women rushing to praise him.
On September 28, 2023, a UPS driver from Texas took to social media with a message all men and husbands needed to hear. His post seemed to start in a sexist manner, but he quickly changed his tune to show how forward-thinking he was.
The Texan went against society’s expectations of what makes a man and rallied behind women worldwide. In his TikTok video, J.R. Minton recorded his profound message about the safety of his delivery van.
He shared some insights into his family dynamics, controversially starting his message. The UPS driver confidently shared how his household works, showing how secure he is in his masculinity.
Minton was adamant when he revealed he didn’t help his wife cook, clean, do laundry, care for their children, or do tasks like those. At that point, most people envisioned how the man’s message would go, only to discover that they were wrong.
The 32-year-old man then explained what he meant, saying he did what he was supposed to do as a husband and father. Putting a twist on his opinion, Minton shared how he actually cooked, cleaned, did laundry, and took care of his children, adding:
“I can’t ‘help’ my wife do those things because they are my job, too.”
He was referring to how most households with a husband and one operated from a patriarchal point of view where the woman is always expected to do the “household” tasks because of her gender. Even if the wife also goes out to work, she is usually expected to come home and do all the household work while her husband rests from his hard day at work.
Most members of society believe that women either like or are wired to do everything their husbands don’t want to do to take care of their home. Instead, if a man cared for his children, it is seen as “babysitting,” despite the task not falling into the role.
Brittany’s husband said he is determined to do things differently than his own experience.
In his now-viral clip, the UPS driver concluded his message by urging people to change how they spoke and thought. He then encouraged male viewers to grow up and be men. The way Minton altered the direction of his rant had a lot of social media users praising him for his stance.

During his interview, the delivery man revealed that he and his wife, Brittany, are parents to four children. The couple’s offspring are still relatively young and aged one to seven, with the parents choosing to split all the household chores between them.
Minton and his wife also split all their responsibilities in half. Amazingly, the TikToker revealed that almost everything about how he chose to parent with his wife is “in spite” of what he grew up seeing from his parents.
