The doctor’s stark cancer warning to Kevin Costner

Kevin Costner is a name associated with one of Hollywood’s hottest men, but after years of filming under the scorching sun, the aging cowboy is starting to look like a “toad,” according to sources.

A doctor says the star’s “spotty skin” is a scary sign of cancer, adding that if he’s not more careful, “he’s going to regret it.”

Since 2017, Kevin Costner has produced and starred in Yellowstone , a TV series that tells the story of conflicts between ranching families in Yellowstone National Park.

The 69-year-old cowboy, who in the series plays the patriarch of the Dutton family, spent much of his time on horseback under the scorching sun of the fictional Broken Rock Indian Reservation.

However, in June 2024, the newly divorced actor announced that he would be leaving the ranch to become a farmer in Arizona in 2024 ‘s Horizon: An American Saga Chapter 1 , a blockbuster film in which he stars and is also a producer.

“After working on Horizon for a year and a half, doing everything that was required while thinking about Yellowstone , I realized that I will not be able to continue,” the Wyatt Earp star explained to his fans on social media. “It was something that really changed me. I loved it and I know you did too. And I just wanted to let you know that I will not be returning.”

Fans expressed their disappointment at the announcement in the comments section of his social media; some wished him luck, while others pointed out that he looks “tired”.

One wrote: “John Dutton was the GOAT; an absolute legend. It won’t be the same without you.” And another wrote: “I’m so devastated by this.”

“A toad has better skin than Kevin”

A third, noting that he looks burnt out, commented: “The show definitely won’t be the same without you… Still so handsome, but you look [worn] and older.”

This fan isn’t the only one who has noticed that the Dances with Wolves star is looking a little worn out.

An insider warns that the star could be heading for a health crisis if he is not more careful when it comes to filming under the sun.

The source tells Radar Online that Costner’s “face is blotchy from all the tanning and probably the tans he’s gotten.”

“And his forehead has many fine lines that tell a similar story, plus more ugly creases around the eyes.” The insider continues: “His neck is the worst. A toad has better skin than Kevin. But he seems unaware of the damage that all these UV rays can do, and it can come back to bite him.”

The source advises the actor and filmmaker “to slather on sunscreen and cover up properly” and warns that “he will regret it. Skin cancer is serious.”

Dr. Gabe Mirkin, who does not treat Costner, agrees that the Field of Dreams star is already showing “damage.”

Shows signs of damage to the skin

Mirkin urges Costner to “see a dermatologist every year and have every basal cell removed before it becomes more extensive.”

Basal cell carcinoma is the “most common type of cancer,” according to the American Academy of Dermatology Association (AAD). The organization says that people with “a lighter skin tone” who rarely protect “the skin from the sun” or use tanning beds are at “greater risk of developing” skin cancer.

The AAD writes: “Before basal cell carcinoma develops, people with lighter skin tones often notice signs of sun damage to their skin, such as age spots, discolored patches, and deep wrinkles. These signs can develop years before cancer.”

Mirkin explains that “the majority of skin cancers are basal cells that usually do not spread to other parts of the body” and says that it is often not life-threatening.

But the doctor adds: “Once a person starts developing skin cancer, they usually have to go back to the dermatologist for the rest of their lives because they keep getting new ones.”
