Carrie Underwood made a surprise appearance at the 2024 Country Music Awards in Nashville, Tennessee, this week. She teamed up with country music superstar Cody Johnson, and they sang “I’m Gonna Love You,” together.
The singer took the stage in a leather vest with white fringe and a lace dress. Her hair was in her signature blond loose waves. As always, people applauded her powerful performance. But there were some who were more hung up about her appearance. One person said in a comment, “She needs to let some air out of her Lips,” another person added, “Love her voice and music, but what the heck did she do to her lips.”
Others seemed to only focus on her looks, with one person saying, “Okay, she’s beautiful. Why did she have to do the botox. I just don’t get it. Personally, I think it ruined her. She was fine, just the way she was.”
One user chimed in with a question, “Is it just me, or is Carrie showing a little pregnancy bump?” while another simply wrote two words echoing the same question, “Baby bump?”
But thankfully, there were countless people who only focused on the performance of “I’m Gonna Love You” and talked about how much they loved it. The song is featured as the lead single on Johnson’s deluxe album which released in November. The music video features sweeping landscapes and horses. The singers really poured their all into the performance.
Johnson has shared before how he hoped Underwood would collaborate with him on the track saying, “It’s like Carrie Underwood or nobody.” He truly believed her voice would be the perfect accompaniment for his. He said, “We’re just staring at each other, kind of going off each other.”
Johnson had five nominations at this year’s CMA Awards. He took home the awards for Album of the Year Award for “Leather.” His songs “Dirt Cheap” and “The Painter” were also nominated for Song of the Year, with “The Painter” also receiving a nomination for Video of the Year.
Johnson also received a nomination for Male Vocalist of the Year. This was his third nomination in a row. He won the award in 2022 for his song “Til You Can’t.”
Carrie Underwood is also a CMA Award show veteran, having hosted the show 12 years in a row and winning seven awards throughout her career!
