4 teen boys found dead after going missing on camping trip

Jevon Hirst, Harvey Owen, Wilf Henderson, and Hugo Morris went on a camping trip together over the weekend, not realizing it would be their last.

Unfortunately, the trip took a tragic turn, leaving their families devastated.

The four boys from Wales, United Kingdom, had decided to go on a camping trip together and have a few laughs, but when their families didn’t hear from them for over four hours they became increasingly worried.

The camping trip
When the boys failed to contact their families, they filed a missing persons report. A comprehensive search operation, involving helicopters, the Coast Guard, and mountain rescue teams, unfolded. After 48 hours, the police made a somber discovery — an overturned car slightly submerged in water with the lifeless bodies of the four young men inside.

North Wales police, addressing the heartbreaking incident, stated (via the Independent): “At present, this appears to have been a tragic accident, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the four young men at this very difficult time.”

The vehicle, found in the village of Gareg, seemed to have veered off the road, trapping all four boys inside for the duration of the search.

Crystal, Owen’s mother, expressed her sadness in a Facebook post. Beginning with the words: “I feel like I’m in a nightmare I wish I could wake up from, but I’m not,” she detailed the profound grief that had overcome her. Despite the outpouring of support, Crystal acknowledged that nothing could alleviate the pain of losing her son. She announced the temporary closure of her cake business, unable to fathom continuing without her beloved son.

Owen’s mother was unaware of the camping trip, driving to the location to join search efforts when she learned of it. She revealed that, had she known, she would have never allowed her son to venture out in winter weather, believing he had stayed at a friend’s house.

Lisa Corfield, Henderson’s girlfriend’s mother, provided insights into the camping trip before the car’s discovery. “They are not experienced campers,” she wrote, “They have never been there before. [They] were just going for the night, so have a tent and sleeping bags but only the basics.”

Corfield paid tribute to Henderson, describing him as a “lovely kind young lad” who treated her daughter with respect. She thanked Henderson for bringing love and happiness into her daughter’s life, and wrote that she would to look after her daughter in his absence.
